Plans for a new mail server tutorial

After receiving a lot of mails regarding the howto on Mailserver mit Postfix, Dovecot, Antispam und PostgreSQL als Backend (Mail server with Postfix, Dovecot, anti spam and PostgreSQL), I've plans for doing a new one.

The basic setup for the new tutorial will be:

  • Debian Lenny
  • Postfix 2.5.5
  • Dovecot 1.2.9
  • MySQL 5.0
  • Virtual domains
  • SMTP auth
  • TLS on SMTP and IMAP
  • Sender verification
  • E-Mail address wildcards

To reach more people, it'll be on English this time. If there are any feature requests from you, just write a comment.

Why did you choose MySQL this time?

Hi,
justed checked your old HowTo and it looks fine.

I would add roundcube webmailer with sql password and sieve plugin to the pack, so users get webmail with password change options and the ability to create server side filterscripts.
Especially people getting lots of mail will love the ability to filter directly on the server.

Another nice feature worth mentioning is the antispam plugin for dovecot. I'm just trying to integrate it so users can train ham/spam just by moving mail into or out of the Spambox.

Have fun with your write up

Marc

Hi,

I'm trying to follow the old one (unsing Lenny) with PostgreSQL. Please keep PostgreSQL in this howto too.

ps: a note on the old one: if I try to wget http://www.tuxj0b.de/files/mailserver.sql I receive a 403. PLease fix. I'm stuck.
